Stories That Speak for the Planet
Our Mission
Our mission is clear: to give voice to the voiceless—wildlife, ecosystems, and communities—and inspire meaningful action through ethical, impactful storytelling. We use the power of visual journalism to bridge the gap between science, people, and policy.
Our Impact
Recognized by major festivals including Banff, Wild & Scenic, and the San Francisco Green Film Festival, our work goes beyond headlines. We change how environmental issues are seen, felt, and understood—one story at a time.
We tell the stories that matter.
Support our mission: watch, read, share, and join the movement.
Festival Spotlight: Moving the Giants Inspires Global Action
After its debut at the Banff Mountain Film Festival in November, Moving the Giants continues its run on the film festival circuit through 2016. The documentary Moving the Giants follows David Milarch, a Michigan-based arborist. In 1991, Milarch experienced a near-death event that led him on a mission—to preserve the genetic legacy of the planet’s largest trees before they vanish, and to reforest the Earth as a response to climate change. Moving the Giants tells the story of David and the towering redwoods of California.
Festival Highlights
Moving the Giants received Best Short honors at the Environmental Film Festival at Yale, the Audience Choice Award at Films for the Forest during South by Southwest, and was a runner-up for the Eric Moe Sustainability Award at the Washington D.C. Environmental Film Festival.

Facing the Flames: Colorado Firefighters on the Climate Frontlines
Veteran Colorado firefighter Don Whittemore has spent decades battling some of the state’s most dangerous wildfires. But today, the stakes are higher than ever. As climate change drives up temperatures and dries out forests, Whittemore and his fellow firefighters are confronting a new era of record-breaking wildfires. Disease-weakened trees and prolonged drought have turned once-manageable blazes into fast-moving infernos, pushing fire crews to their limits.
Production company The Story Group captures this growing crisis in vivid detail, documenting the stories of Whittemore and other first responders on the front lines. Their work now involves more risk, less predictability, and constant adaptation. “On a day-to-day basis, we’re being surprised,” Whittemore says. “And in this business, surprise is what kills people.”
